A munchkin will just have a lifeless list of stats and bonuses. They will usually resist any kind of personality or backstory because they just don;t care and they don't want to deal with the complications of human interaction.

They just want to kill people and pump up their stats quicker than the rest of the party. But a lot of the time Munchkin also gets used as an all purpose insult. You may presume, when I say this, that I mean 'effectiveness in combat,' but that's not the case. Power Gamers pour over the rules, know them by heart, and use every legal means at their disposal to make sure they extract every ounce of effectiveness out the rules. Power gamers tend to have a highly developed sense of 'fair play. That within certain boundaries that they have come to understand and which are different for each group the GM is going to Play Fair as well. Munchkins want to play Thor. They may or may not be intimately familiar with the rules, they don't care if the GM bends the rules, they just want to be Thor.

To munchkins, a good game is one in which Thor is called upon to travel to hell, kill Cerberus, take on the hordes of demons that serve Sutur, and then kill Sutur. The idea that Sutur might kill them doesn't make sense. If Sutur kills them, it's because the GM was being a dick.
