Where is nocturnal 2011

But the infectiously danceable sound was a perfect fit for Nocturnal Fest as all the hands in the air testified. Bassnectar — Timestretch by Bassnectar. It was hard to tell exactly when it started, as there was no fanfare or introduction of any kind as the previous set just blended right into this one. But the sound coming from the stage just started getting groovier.

But there was a similar emphasis on psychedelic dance grooves. All of which provided a nice change up. Broken Soul Jamboree — Album Revue by tippermusic. This Colorado-based duo have been making a name for themselves over the past year, which included a spring tour with STS9 and a slick sophomore album in A Place Behind the Moon.

Drummer Jeremy Salkin and synth-saxman Dominic Lalli mix up a sizzling psychedelic brew of nifty polyrhythms, pulsating electronica and some jazzy overtones with the saxophone. The hour-long set was a high energy affair all the way, getting Saturday night at Nocturnal going in the right direction. They also had a drummer for their live show, which again elevated the sound. The alt-rock classic clearly still resonates, as most sang along.

The sound shifted here as Crystal Castles out of Toronto dialed in more of an electronic pop flavor mixed with some sporadically crazy glitch outs.. The sound was an interesting change of pace at this point in the evening. Vocalist Alice Glass seemed to have a commanding presence, although her vocals were often hard to discern due to being overly drenched in reverb. Crystal Castles — Vanished by Crystal Castles. Funky beats, psychedelic synth riffs and a deep blues influence are used to create a unique psyche-electro-funk sound with lots of sonic space to help deepen the grooves.

This is something more electronica artists would be wise to observe as opposed to cramming every frequency on the sonic spectrum. Song after song shimmered with energy, as the duo kept the crowd rocking and dancing with a psychedelic funk that indeed elevated the soul.

With the lasers synched into the funky beats, it was a multi-sensory experience of the highest order. Verse Peoria il. Signal Path Denver, Co. Toast Bari. Jason Jenkins Austin, TX. Eliot Lipp Austin TX. Mad Classy Austin, TX. Crizzly Boerne,TX.

Since first being held back in , ravers from all over have flocked to Southern California to catch some beats and escape everyday norms to experience something truly magical. This weekend Nocturnal Wonderland will once again welcome headliners through the gates of Glen Helen Regional Park , which was a welcome surprise after was originally planned as the final edition at the venue.

Check out the lineup for the edition and read on to find out a little more about the origins of how this festival came to be. The first Nocturnal Wonderland was held in Downtown Los Angeles on February 11, , making it not only the oldest Insomniac festival but also the longest-running electronic music festival in North America.

Los Angeles was a short-lived home for Nocturnal, with the event being held only one more time in the city at The Shrine in before it eventually moved to a new location in Southern California.

Its movement set the tone for what would come for the festival until years later as it moved around to different venues in Southern California and even expanded for an edition in Texas After having lost a secured venue for Nocturnal Wonderland days before the start of the show, Insomniac Founder Pasquale Rotella reached an agreement with a Native American tribe to host the event on their land. Trouble erupted when only some of the tribe members got a hold of the money and others did not.

Furious with being left out of the deal, the local tribe members set up a barbed-wire fence and guarded the gate entrance with guns in an effort to keep the 20, expected attendees out. Their efforts ultimately failed with ravers forcing the front gate open with a car, which then gave everyone a path to rush the fenced gate.

Rain or shine or a barbed-wire fence blocking the gate , the show went on until early morning the next day. Though this conflict could foreshadow a negative future for the festival, the future only got greener and safer.

NOS Events Center to the rescue! Nocturnal Wonderland made its first appearance at the venue in , where it attracted a crowd of more than 7, ravers. The festival bounced around a couple of venues the years after its debut appearance at the NOS, even calling the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio home in , which has since become the home for Coachella.
